Save your game regularly

Manual and quick saves are available in GreedFall without any limitations. It is recommended that you save your progress before:

1. Big fights where enemies or monsters may be too difficult to defeat.
2. Any conversation with an NPC where you may be forced to make a decision.
3. Arriving at any quest location where a cut-scene may be activated immediately.

Collect loot from all chests

Take everything you find in chests, even if they are in other people\’s homes or near stalls. There are no penalties for looting in GreedFall.

Move all the loot you find to your inventory, as you can sell useless items to merchants or dismantle them for crafting materials.

Sneak or find alternative passages in restricted areas

While you can take treasures from all chests, not all locations are accessible. The first restricted areas appear during the prologue, and entering those areas without permission can lead to attacks and negative consequences with factions in the game world.

You can solve the problem of inaccessible locations by sneaking in or finding alternative passages. Your companions or the game will warn you about prohibited areas, so be sure to pay attention.

1. The best tactic is to sneak and crouch. You can quietly kill guards, but you must not be seen during an assassination attempt.
2. Look for alternative passages, such as a back entrance, a canal passage, or a weakened wall that can be broken down.
3. Wearing a disguise can get you inside a particular faction.
4. Find tasks related to an unavailable location, such as being allowed to enter a forbidden location during an investigation.

Unlock Lockpicking Talent as Soon as Possible

The Lockpicking talent is essential for gaining access to chests and entrances that are forbidden and locked. You can unlock the first level of this talent during character creation, but it is not mandatory. Closed chests usually contain valuable and high-quality items that can be sold or used as equipment. To open more complex mechanisms, you will need to develop your Lockpicking talent to level 2 or 3. Firearms are Effective in Battles

Regardless of whether you specialize in close combat or magic, firearms are highly effective and have a high level of firepower. They can weaken strong enemies, especially those who do not have any distance attacks and strive for melee combat. Assign some firearms to your controlled character and unlock at least 1 level of the Accuracy attribute to increase the damage dealt. Ammunition can be found in loot boxes, chests, bought from dealers, or produced through crafting. Save it for medium-demanding skirmishes instead of wasting it on simple battles with weak monsters.

Explore the Map with Question Marks

Thoroughly explore all newly visited regions of the game world to discover other attractions such as bonfires, locations with NPCs, skill chapels, entrances to buildings, or lairs of powerful monsters and mini-bosses. Question marks on the map symbolize interesting places, so try to reach them all after appearing in every new region of the world to make sure you don\’t miss any important discovery.

Use Charisma in Important Meetings with NPCs

Charisma talent is an excellent choice for solving conflicts peacefully during a conversation with NPCs. If the attempt to convince the person is successful, you can achieve the desired effect of the meeting and receive positive reputation points as a bonus.

The Charisma test has a success percentage, which is displayed in the chat window (50% in the example shown in the picture). If you frequently save the game, as suggested in this guide, you can reload the previous save and try again, even if you fail.

Remember that companions can be equipped with weapons and armor

The inventory in GreedFall is shared among the entire team, allowing you to easily change your companion\’s weapons and armor. While some of the \”starting\” items they use have excellent statistics, better equipment can be found over time. It is advisable to exchange such items, so that the team member can remain a useful helper on the battlefield, without worrying about them getting killed quickly.

You can select from all the items you have found, received, or purchased while controlling your main character. As with the main hero, always check whether the weapon or armor requirements of new items are compatible with your companion\’s attributes.

Unlock every new campfire

Campfires and bonfires serve several useful purposes in GreedFall, including relaxation, team changes, item chest (storage) checking, and activating fast travel features. Each game world region has several bonfires to locate, some of which can be ignited. It is recommended to find them during your first visit to each new location to have as many fast-travel points as possible, making it easier to return to old locations for completing quests.

Unlock the Magic Healing ability as soon as possible

At the beginning of the game, health phials are the primary method of healing the hero. However, this may change over time. Check the Magic Healing ability, a spell that allows you to recover lost health points, located in the upper right section of the skill tree. You can access this ability from the side of One-Handed Heavy Weapons or Stasis.

The first level of the Magic Healing skill is sufficient at the beginning. However, over time, try to unlock its next levels to get rid of poison and repair armor. The fifth level is the most important since the Magic Healing skill can heal comrades. Although the healing power in this situation is 50% lower than the hero\’s regeneration, it is still a useful bonus.

The arena in New Serene is an excellent place to gain xp and obtain a good sword

When you reach New Serene, visit a local tavern to start the Champion of the Arena side quest, which is covered in detail in our guide. In the Champion of the Arena quest, you must participate in arena battles. You must complete five rounds, with each round consisting of three fights against various enemies. Between rounds, you will be healed for free. However, each subsequent round becomes more challenging, with the last fight being against a mini-boss – Nadaig Meinemen.

It\’s not necessary to win all the rounds at once, you can only join those that match your current character experience level. The main objective is to gain valuable experience points for completing each round. If you manage to win all the rounds, you will be rewarded with a powerful two-handed weapon that requires a 5 agility level and two-handed heavy weapons skill. However, if your character doesn\’t meet the requirements or focuses on magic, you can give the weapon to one of your team\’s warriors.

Make use of active pause when encountering tough opponents

Using active pause can be highly advantageous, and it\’s available from the beginning of the game. We recommend pausing whenever:

1. Your character takes damage or suffers from a negative status, allowing you to choose how to heal them.
2. You have difficulties attacking a specific enemy, especially when facing multiple opponents. Active pause enables you to easily select the opponent you want to attack.
3. You want to execute an advanced technique, such as using traps or an unusual attack.
