Relics and hilts

Relics are a new addition to the God of War series. Kratos can equip them to gain unique powers in battle. In God of War Ragnarok, there are 14 different Relics, each with its own distinct power.

Once equipped, Relics can be activated by pressing the shield and assigned Relic buttons. Similar to runic attacks, there is a cooldown period for Relic powers. Most Relics can be upgraded up to three times, allowing for a faster cooldown or increased power. Upgrading requires experience points.

How to find all the relics?

Relics can be obtained in a variety of ways. Some can be found near collectibles or in legendary chests, while others are earned through progress in the main story. A few Relics are obtained through side activities or by finding the necessary components to forge them in the dwarven store. Once you obtain the required scroll, the new Relic will appear in the Relics tab at the store.

Talisman of Meign

The first Relic you\’ll come across is the Talisman of Meign. You\’ll find it in The Applecore in Svartalfheim during the second story mission, The Quest for Tyr.

When activated, this Relic boosts damage dealt for a short period of time.

Glaive of Dodher

The Glaive of Dodher is another Relic found during the main storyline. You can acquire it by looting the defeated Aesir Einherjar in the sixth story mission, The Reckoning.

When activated, this Relic fires two Bifrost projectiles that home in on the opponent.

Hilt of Hofud

You\’ll obtain the Hilt of Hofud after defeating Heimdall in the 13th story mission, Creatures of Prophecy.

When activated, this Relic slows down time, creating a Realm Shift.

Huldra Project #9

The Huldra Project #9 can only be obtained after completing the story campaign. Once you\’re in the endgame phase, visit a dwarven store to purchase it for 10,000 hacksilver.

Once activated, Huldra Project #9 enables Mimir to shoot Bifrost lasers from his eyes. Simply aim Mimir\’s head at nearby opponents to attack them.

Mystical Heirloom

Mystical Heirloom is a collectible item that can only be obtained after completing the 10th story mission (Forging Destiny). To find it, return to Midgard with the Draupnir Spear and locate a glowing ice block in the southern part of Lake of Nine. Destroy the ice block to reveal the relic, which can be found next to a dwarf corpse and a Receipt of Purchase scroll.

Mystical Heirloom is unique in that it cannot be upgraded and does not offer any battle value. Its primary use is to summon secret mini-bosses found in various regions, which drop rare crafting components necessary to upgrade other gear.

Hilt of Gram

Hilt of Gram can be found in one of the legendary chests located in Alfheim. To learn its exact location and how to open the chest, refer to the Temple of Light page in the guide.

Once activated, this relic provides a bonus to Rage and stuns all nearby opponents.

Motsognir\’s Call

Located near a legendary chest in Aesir Prison Wreckage in Niflheim, Motsognir\’s Call becomes available only after completing the main storyline.

When used, Motsognir\’s Call creates a shockwave that applies a powerful stun on nearby opponents.

Hilt of Dainsleif

The Hilt of Dainsleif is associated with The Lost Pages side activity. To craft it, you need a scroll found in The Elven Sanctum of The Forbidden Sands region in Alfheim.

The remaining components needed to craft Hilt of Dainsleif can be obtained by defeating Ormstunga, a mini-boss appearing during The Lost Treasure Favour. Once you have all the components, travel to the nearest dwarven store to craft the relic.

Once activated, Hilt of Dainsleif creates an explosion of poison, leaving fumes that damage enemies.

Hilt of Angrvadall

Hilt of Angrvadall can be crafted at a dwarven store using a scroll obtained from The Lost Pages Labour. The scroll can be found next to a legendary chest in The Barrens region of Alfheim.

The final component needed for the relic can be obtained by defeating the boss of The Desert Door Favour (The Forbidden Sands – Alfheim).

When used, Hilt of Angrvadall shoots three waves of light that deal extra damage to targets with sonic status applied.

Hilt of Ridill

Hilt of Ridill is another relic associated with The Lost Pages Labour. The scroll needed to craft it can be found in The Lost Treasury in Midgard, which you\’ll visit during the course of Sigrun\’s Curse Favour.

The second component needed for the relic can be obtained by defeating Olaf Nutson, the final boss from Animal Instincts Favour.

Once activated, Hilt of Ridill unleashes a wave of electricity that damages enemies around you.

Tyrfing\’s Hilt

The final relic of The Lost Pages Labour is Tyrfing\’s Hilt, which can be forged using a scroll found in The Plains of Vanaheim. Defeating the optional mini-boss, Wulver Blatoon, in The Abandoned Village will reward you with the necessary ingredients for crafting.

When used, Tyrfing\’s Hilt takes away a portion of Kratos\’ health and deals damage to enemies.

Hrotti\’s Hilt

Hrotti\’s Hilt can only be obtained after finishing the 13th chapter of the story and Scent of Survival Favour in Vanaheim. Information on how to unlock this region can be found on the Reaching the Crater in Vanaheim page of the guide.

While exploring The Crater, you will encounter the Oath Guards, a trio of mini-bosses. Defeating the second mini-boss will reward you with this relic. Upon activation, it marks nearby enemies, reducing the cooldown of your currently equipped weapon for each hit. Killing a marked enemy grants you the Blessing of Runic.

Forsbrandr\’s Hilt

Forsbrandr\’s Hilt is obtained after completing the Eyes of Odin Favour, which involves hunting all 48 ravens.

When used, this relic pushes back enemies while providing Kratos with a protective aura.

Skofnung\’s Hilt

Initially received as a key item during a story quest, Skofnung\’s Hilt allows you to locate and summon berserkers. Defeating all of them is the objective of Fit for a King Favour, which will reward you with this relic.

Activation of Skofnung\’s Hilt summons several spectral swords that attack nearby enemies.
