Save the Game Frequently

Don\’t drop them on the ground or you might lose them and stop your progress. If your inventory is full, come back for them later.

You can set the lowest difficulty level for the mission category to prevent removing quest items from inventory and potential problems.

Keep a Stock of Medicines and First Aid Kits

In System Shock Remake, you have to manually heal the character as the health bar doesn\’t renew itself. Therefore, it is advisable to collect as many medicines and first aid kits as possible, as they can most efficiently restore health points. You can also look for Surgery Machines that offer full treatment for free.

On low and Normal difficulty levels, the healing items found as loot should suffice to survive. Still, in Citadel, you can find vending machines that offer, among other things, healing items.

Use Appropriate Weapons and Ammunition

The game has main categories of enemies, i.e., organic targets and robots. Kinetic weapons are most effective against organic targets, while Sparqbeam and other energy weapons work best against robots. Some weapons allow you to use different types of ammunition, like piercing through armor more effectively or setting enemies on fire.

You can scan your opponents with Target Identifier to select the right weapon for a fight (ALT key). It provides information on the enemy type, armor, remaining health points, and other details.

Recharge Energy Reserves Regularly

The blue energy bar is essential in the game, mainly consumed by Sparqbeam, the primary energy weapon, and active hardware attachments. Look for Power Stations that recharge energy for free. You can also collect battery packs as loot that restores a part of the blue bar. It is advisable to use them before significant battles.

Take Cover and Lean Out of Them

To avoid damage when fighting opponents attacking from a distance, use covers, stand behind walls, or other indestructible objects. Leaning out can also be helpful in sneaking around and checking out new corridors. The default keys are Q and E.

Unlock New Areas with Objects and Devices

Exploring Citadel levels 100% can be challenging. Look for buttons and levers that open the passages in the area. Cyberspace Terminals allow you to move into the Citadel network and destroy blockades, for example, to access armories and other secret rooms. Keycards will open doors with electronic locks, while Junction boxes help complete mini-games and open nearby hatches or doors.

Recycle Scrap at Recycling Stations

You can find scrap in the game or destroy unnecessary items from the inventory (option Vaporize from the list of commands). Take the scrap to Recycling Stations found on most of Citadel decks.

For every 10 scraps you give, you will receive 1 Tri-Credit. This is an excellent way to make money quickly. Tri-Credits will allow you to purchase unique weapon upgrades from vending machines and the Mod-Kit Station.

Thoroughly Explore New Locations

On default settings, significant items may shine, but there is still a chance you might miss something. Look for items in plain sight, search all containers, and check every corpse. In particular, look for:

3. Falling from high places – you can take damage even when jumping from a seemingly small height. You can fix this problem with the Turbo Motion Booster System – after acquiring this hardware attachment, you can attach shoes mid-flight and slow down your descent.
