Unlocking the mission and first visit to Butcher Creek

This mission becomes available in chapter 5. The quest marker appears west of Van Horn Trading Post (picture 1). Arthur will come across a man named Lemuel who requests his help (picture 2).

Arthur must take the ill man to Butcher Creek, stow him on his horse, and place him near one of the cabins. Lemuel will attack Arthur, but he is not a formidable opponent. Speak with Obediah Hinton to complete the first part of the mission.

The second encounter with the Butcher Creek villagers

After approximately 24 hours, a new quest marker will appear. Arthur must return to Butcher Creek and defeat the \”demons\” that have invaded the village – sick dogs that bark aggressively (use Dead Eye to shoot them).

Speak with Obediah and watch the cut-scene. You will meet a suspicious Native American.

Destroying the talismans

In the third part of the mission, Arthur must find and destroy 13 cursed talismans. Use Eagle Eye to locate them, as they are marked yellow (see picture above). Destroy them with any weapon. Look in the marked white area, which includes the forest and both shores. Speak with Obediah when you have finished.

Investigating the mine

Arthur must head to the mine west of Annesburg. Remove the planks to reveal the entrance.

Use the lantern to light the way and follow the yellow marker. Arthur will discover poisoned water and the main entrance will become blocked. However, he can follow a different corridor. Look for small streams, as they will lead to the exit. Move in the opposite direction to the water and go through the waterfall (see picture above).

There is no reward from the villagers, but you can take the money and document from the table.
