Hogwarts Legacy: Houses

In Hogwarts Legacy, players have the option to join one of four Houses – Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. This page of the guide outlines the differences between the houses as well as the sorting ceremony players will participate in upon starting the game.

Sorting Ceremony

Once players have started the game and arrived at Hogwarts, the Sorting Hat will determine which house they belong to based on a series of questions. Each house is associated with a specific trait – bravery for Gryffindor, curiosity for Ravenclaw, loyalty for Hufflepuff, and ambition for Slytherin. If players disagree with the Sorting Hat\’s decision, they can choose a house themselves.

Joining the Harry Potter Fan Club allows players to take part in a special quiz prepared by the Sorting Hat. Results from the quiz can be transferred to Hogwarts Legacy by linking their Harry Potter Fan Club account with their WB Games account.

Gryffindor

Gryffindor was founded by Godric Gryffindor, a famous wizard known for his bravery and heroic deeds. The house\’s symbol is a lion, and its colors are red and gold. Gryffindor students embody courage, chivalry, and a willingness to do what is right no matter the cost. The Gryffindor common room is located in Gryffindor Tower in the south wing of Hogwarts.

Slytherin

Slytherin was founded by Salazar Slytherin, a wizard driven by ambition to achieve his goals. The house\’s symbol is a snake, and its colors are green and silver. Slytherin students possess great ambition, cunning, and a willingness to achieve their goals at any cost to others. The Slytherin common room is located in the dungeon beneath a large lake.

Players who join Slytherin will encounter characters such as Ominis Gaunt, Imelda Reyes, and Sebastian Sallow. Notable characters who belonged to Slytherin in the books and movies include Lord Voldemort and Severus Snape.

Ravenclaw

Ravenclaw was founded by Rowena Ravenclaw, one of the wisest witches of her time. The house is known for its incredibly intelligent students who possess a love of knowledge and learning. The house\’s symbol is an eagle, and its colors are blue and bronze. The Ravenclaw common room is located in the Founder\’s Tower and features a high ceiling and numerous windows.

Players who join Ravenclaw will encounter characters such as Duncan Everett Clopton, Samantha Dare, and Amit Thakkar. Notable characters who belonged to Ravenclaw in the books and movies include Luna Lovegood, Filius Flitwick, and Quirinus Quirrell.

Hufflepuff

The Hufflepuff house was founded by Helga Hufflepuff, who accepted all students regardless of their qualities. The students of Hufflepuff house are known for their loyalty, righteousness, and strong adherence to their principles. The symbol of Hufflepuff is a badger, and its colors are black and yellow. The common room of Hufflepuff is situated near the Great Hall, close to the kitchen.

If you choose to join Hufflepuff, you will have the opportunity to meet Adelaide Oakes, Lenora Evergleigh, and Poppy Sweeting. Some of the famous characters from the Harry Potter series who belonged to Hufflepuff include Cedric Diggory, Newton Scamander, and Pomona Sprout.

Differences Between Houses

Here are the differences between the houses in Hogwarts Legacy:

1. Common Room: Each house has a unique common room that is furnished differently and located in a different area of the castle. The common rooms of Gryffindor and Ravenclaw are located in the Founders\’ Towers. Hufflepuff\’s common room is near the kitchen, while Slytherin\’s is in the dungeons.
2. Emblems and Colors: Each house has a distinct emblem and color scheme that makes it easy to identify which house a student belongs to.
3. NPCs: Throughout the game, you will encounter many non-player characters from different houses with whom you can interact and participate in additional story quests. However, your house does not entirely restrict your access to certain NPCs.
