In Wolf\’s Clothing

To start this quest, find the notice board in Larvik village (M18,1). Talk to Josta, one of the priestesses at Freya\’s Temple located in the north-western part of the island, to get more information. She will direct you to Einar, who can provide you with more details about the monster. Einar can be found in the port near Larvik village. Upon talking to him, you will learn that Morkvarg is likely a werewolf.

Proceed to the residence near Freya\’s Temple. Approach the main gate and watch a cutscene. As you cannot enter through the main entrance, search for an alternative way in. Walk up the stairs, reach the walls of the residence, and go to its center. Use your witcher senses to find footprints and other tracks. You will encounter a few level-14 wolves on the way. Eventually, you will arrive at a wall with a locked door, so you must explore for another entry point.

Use the floodgate mechanism to open and close specific floodgates.

Now go to the back of the residence and walk along the eastern wall. You will come across a small river with many werewolf\’s marks. Use the ladder on the rock to climb to higher ground. Use the mechanism to open the floodgates and unlock the passage. The mechanism is straightforward: use the right lever to select the gate you want to open/close and the left one to perform the action. The currently selected floodgate is represented by a stake. After opening the middle passage, move towards the center of the mansion. Enter the small building with open doors and examine all the tracks. While you\’re investigating, Morkvarg will show up.

After the cutscene, a battle ensues. It shouldn\’t be too difficult as long as you have a character at least at medium level. Once you have defeated him, two options are available:

Option A – Lift the Spell Off Morkvarg

After defeating the werewolf, you can try to kill him, but he will only disappear. You must find him again. Go to the place with the switches and move further to the cave. Inside, you will have to kill Morkvarg for the second time. Additionally, you will learn about a key to the building in the middle of the residence.

When navigating through the rock, you may need to use the ladder at times.

Return to the mechanism and open the right floodgate leading to the cave. Swim through and dive to explore the room, which can be detected using the witcher senses. Take the key from the pile of bones. Proceed to the main yard and enter the large building. Use the key to open the left door and retrieve Morkvarg\’s journal from the chest. Read it.

Retrieve Morkvarg\’s journal from the chest.

Return to Einar, located in the port near the Larvik village. You will find out that he was part of Morkvarg\’s crew and responsible for the curse. To break the curse, take an amulet from him and touch the werewolf with it. During the conversation, you can choose to fight Einar. If so, you will have to face him and his three men on level 14. Take the amulet from the fallen enemy\’s body.

Return to the residence and go to the cave where you killed the werewolf for the second time. You will have to defeat Morkvarg again, but this time you have the fang to touch him with.

Once the curse is broken, you can choose to kill Morkvarg for 85 pieces of gold or spare him and receive a reward from a moneylender in Novigrad. Josta will give you 85 pieces of gold, while the moneylender will offer a sword and a diagram.

Option B – Feed Morkvarg with his own flesh

Remember to take the werewolf meat from the fallen enemy\’s body.

This option is shorter, but the only outcome is Morkvarg\’s death. After defeating him the first time, take the werewolf meat from his body. Go to the cave behind the mechanism and defeat him again. Then, talk to him and feed him his own meat from the quest items tab. This will permanently take care of him and award you with the salmian brigantine armor. Return to Josta for 85 gold pieces and to complete the quest.

The Heroes\’ Pursuits: For the Goddess\’ Glory!

To start this quest, read the note on the notice board in Larvik village (M18,1). Talk to Svana (M18,3) near one of the village\’s exits to participate in a race. You must prove your skills by completing three new quests:
