Starting the Quest

To begin this quest, Elizabeth Peralez must call V. If V has not met Elizabeth before, Elizabeth may learn about V\’s abilities during the game. Elizabeth will call after completing the main job Life During Wartime or after increasing V\’s reputation in specific districts. Elizabeth will not reveal the details of the mission over the phone, but will ask to meet in the Glen sub-district of Heywood. After arriving, V will meet Elizabeth and her husband Jefferson Peralez, who want to investigate the mayor\’s death. Jefferson will give V a shard with the braindance recording.

Watching Braindance and Finding Clues

V should watch the entire braindance before analyzing it. The deputy mayor Weldon Holt appears in the visual layer at the 11-second mark. In the audio layer, V can eavesdrop on Holt\’s conversation and learn about the Red Queen\’s Race. At the 30-second mark, V should scan the doorframe that Holt exits through. Peter Horvath enters the second room around the 1-minute mark, and V should scan him. Finally, V should scan the CCTV screen near the gate where Horvath enters.

These are the main clues that will help you end the braindance or discover an optional one. To find the optional clue, switch to the audio layer and go back to the 1-minute mark when Horvath appears. Track him in audio mode and aim the camera to hear the song he\’s humming under his breath.

Once the analysis is done, talk to Elizabeth and Jefferson, who will fly away on their AV. V will ask them about the detective from the recording, and they will reveal that River Ward is the detective and tell you where to find him.

Meeting with Detective Ward

Start by calling River Ward, whose phone number is automatically added to V\’s contact list. Ward will meet you at the Chubby Buffalo\’s BBQ in The Glen sub-district of Heywood. During the meeting, V will reveal they were hired by the Peralez couple, and you won\’t make any choices.

After the conversation, get into Ward\’s car and choose your destination:

This choice won\’t affect the quest, as you\’ll eventually explore both locations.

Meeting with Christine Markov

To find Christine Markov, search the Cherry Blossom Market, marked in yellow on the mini-map. You can ask the vendors about her whereabouts, and her booth is shown in the attached image. After questioning her, talk to River again.

When you return to the car, you\’ll notice some Tyger Claws gang members milling about. You can either ignore their taunts and let River take the initiative, or react to their jeers and fight them, which won\’t affect the quest further.

If you chose the Street Kid lifepath, joining the confrontation won\’t necessarily result in a fight.

Meeting with the Informant

The informant working for Ward is in the Corpo Plaza sub-district of City Center. You\’ll be sent to a sex shop to meet Neil, who will start running away after you tell him who sent you. You can break down the exit door with a high enough Body attribute or run out of the building and into a side alley. Neil will be caught and questioned, and you can go to the location indicated by Neil with River or alone.

Investigating the Red Queen\’s Race

River will inform you that the Red Queen\’s Race warehouse, which you\’ll investigate, is under the control of the hostile Animals gang, but it\’s poorly guarded, and you shouldn\’t have any problems getting inside.

To progress in the quest, you must explore the inside of the warehouse. Locate the crate shown in the image and open it to reveal the hidden entrance to the elevator. Select the floor -04: Club using the elevator to continue.

As you exit the elevator, be prepared to encounter more Animals. If you have weapons that are capable of incapacitating them, you can interrogate the boss of the defeated Animals to gather more information. This is an optional quest objective, and there will be no negative consequences if you choose to eliminate all enemies instead.

To reach the office located at the opposite end of the club, interact with the computer and select the Files tab. Watch the footage from the CCTV camera and listen to River\’s commentary on the incriminating content of the recording involving detective Han. You can either leave the club with River or explore it for loot before leaving.

Once you\’ve completed the previous objectives, it\’s time to confront Detective Han. Return to the Chubby Buffalo\’s BBQ, where Han is waiting for you in the parking lot. Your dialogue choices won\’t affect the outcome of the confrontation, and it doesn\’t matter if you advise River to reopen the investigation or abandon it.

To meet Elizabeth Peralez, call her and travel to her apartment in the Charter Hill sub-district of Westbrook using the elevator. During the elevator ride, you can optionally talk to Johnny.

At the meeting with Elizabeth and Jefferson, share your investigation results by choosing any dialogue option. The quest will soon be over, and you will be rewarded with payment.
