Follow the wolf

In The Lost Sanctuary, you will play as Atreus throughout the quest. You will start by speaking to a character wearing a mask, which will take you to Jotunheim. Then, follow the friendly wolves to meet Angrboda, who will be Atreus\’s partner for the rest of the quest.

In Jotunheim, you can find loot and crafting components for upgrading Atreus\’s equipment. We recommend exploring every location thoroughly to find all the resources. Don\’t forget to use the accumulated XP to upgrade Atreus\’s skills.

Explore Ironwood with Angrboda

You have to follow Angrboda and use the bow to unlock pathways for Atreus by shooting the green blockades. Angrboda will follow her own path. Get to the higher ledge and face enemies. Hit the upper seal to unlock an interactive hook. Destroy the green barricades and hit the seal from the screenshot to unlock another interactive hitch.

Follow the path made by upper ledges and reveal another hook by firing arrows. During the next combat section, you will learn to ask Angrboda for help (Square). She has a Runic Stone that covers opponents with purple dust, which explodes when hit with Atreus\’s arrows. This is a great way of stunning and killing monsters quickly.

Destroy additional barricades to reach a large boulder that Atreus and Angrboda must lift together. Grab the upper hook and jump to a round structure. Angrboda will propose a race, but you don\’t have to win it to continue with the story. During the next combat section, you will learn to summon a Spirit Falcon. This is Angrboda\’s alternative attack (her main is the Runic Stone) and can be activated by holding Square. Use this new ability to deal with opponents more efficiently.

Meet Angrboda at the shrine

You will reach Angrboda\’s Treehouse, which is a safe location. Look at the drawings on the rock on the left (you will unlock two additional ones during the quest).

To feed Jalla, a friendly animal, take the bag and explore the Vimur River location from Jalla\’s back. While traveling, collect Jotunheim Fruit, which rewards you with 50 XP for each fruit picked. To progress, climb up to the ledge and pick up another fruit while Jalla bypasses the obstacle. Use sound arrows to hit the green boards marked in the screenshot to unlock the path forward. Place the fruit in the bucket at Angrboda\’s house and explore your surroundings. Climb onto Jalla\’s back to collect roots and look for more between battles. Follow Angrboda through the canyon, optionally perfecting the technique of skipping stones to unlock an optional treasure. Defeat monsters along the way to reach The Valley of the Fallen. Descend into the sinkhole and destroy Wretch nests to clear the area.

There are different types of monsters in the sinkhole, some of which have nests hidden behind green barricades. Players must shoot through a hole in the rocks to destroy one of the barricades. A total of four nests must be destroyed before players can return to the surface by following Angrboda. They will encounter Bersgra along the way and must use Spartan Rage to deal damage and Angrboda\’s help to stun the beast. After defeating Bersgra, players can use the rope to exit the caves.

Rescue the Wolf from Gryla

Players must climb on Jalla and explore the swamp to find the wolf captured by Gryla. They will encounter monsters that attack players by leaping towards them in suicidal attacks and spraying acid when they explode. Players must attack them from a distance and dodge if they manage to get close. By destroying green barricades with sound arrows, players will encounter Wulver. They must use Spartan Rage to deal damage and Angrboda\’s help to stun the beast. Players must also stay at a distance through dodges and evading. Once they reach a blocked passage, players must look for interactive hooks in the area and hit a green object on the hanging cage to unlock the upper passage when Angrboda arrives.

Players will then enter Gryla\’s domain and use their bow to hit green targets with arrows. They must help Angrboda move the object in the next room to proceed. To set the wolf free, players must sneak and move slowly toward the captured wolf. Once they reach him, they must press the interaction button to get Gryla\’s attention. They must then face Gryla to destroy her rune-covered cauldron. The cauldron has its own health bar which must be depleted.

Return to Angrboda\’s Home

After defeating Gryla, players must squeeze through near the barrel and race against Angrboda as Atreus turns into a wolf. Players must explore Angrboda\’s house for the last time by interacting with objects marked with interaction icons. To finish in Jotunheim, players must reveal the drawing on the final rock.

Return Home to Sindri\’s

Players will return to their heroes\’ hut in Midgard, where they will face Hel forces outside. They must break enemies\’ defense by pressing 2xL1 and use Atreus\’ special attacks. Once they attempt to use the Mystic Gateway, Kratos will appear, and the focus switches back to him. Players must deal with additional opponents and eventually face a boss – Valkyrie. Winning this encounter unlocks a new story mission called The Reckoning.
