Fish and Treasures Requiring a Hadal Rod

You can find Hadal fisheries in Stellar Basin. By default, it is not possible for you to buy or research a Hadal fishing rod. In addition, in the central part of Stellar Basin, you might be attacked by an underwater monster. You have to solve both of these problems.

Advancing in the Research Assistant Quest

Visit the Old Fortress in Stellar Basin to meet the Researcher and start the Research Assistant quest. You have to make sufficient progress in this quest: catch the specimens indicated by the woman and obtain Prototype Parts.

During the quest, you will receive a Sampling Device from an NPC (Abyssal rod) and the Repulsion Machine (to be installed at the Research Outpost).

Invention and Installation of the First Hadal Fishing Rod

As you progress in the Research Assistant quest, you will unlock the ability to research the Hadal rod. The Bottomless Lines rod will appear in the Research menu, which you can unlock using 1 Research Part.

The rod needs to be purchased. You can visit any merchant, such as the Traveling Merchant in Starlight Pontoon. The rod costs $450 and requires 4 slots in the hold.

You also need to temporarily get rid of the Stellar Basin monster. Therefore, you need to install the Repulsion Machine at the Research Outpost generator and activate it. While the generator is active, the beast will not attack your ship.

With the Hadal fishing rod, you can now sail through the central part of Stellar Basin and visit Hadal locations to catch fish or fish out the Jewel Encrusted Brand relic for The Collector quest.
