Control: Old Growth – Step-by-Step Guide

Our Control guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough for completing the side quest, Old Growth. This guide covers how to reach Dr. Underhill\’s lab, obtain mold samples, and defeat the Mold-1 boss.

To begin the quest, speak with Emily Pope in Executive Affairs.

Note: You must unlock the Levitate skill by completing the My Brother\’s Keeper main quest to access Underhill\’s lab and Mold-1.

Walkthrough: To access Dr. Underhill\’s lab, you must first travel to Central Research in the Research sector. Look for an abandoned elevator and jump down using levitation to land safely. Follow the path to find Underhill\’s laboratory and learn about her research.

Underhill will instruct you to gather five types of mold. Follow the quest marker to a large room, defeat the enemies, and begin searching for the mold samples.

  • Type A
  • Type B
  • Type C
  • Type D
  • A pit with poison and the Mold-1 boss

Type A

Locate Type A Mold near the checkpoint. A corpse behind the tents will lead you to a cave where the mold is found.

Type B

Find the mold growing next to the toilets. Follow the pathway near the pit with poison to locate the mold.

Type C

Type C Mold is found not far from the toilets in a TV room on a table.

Type D

Type D Mold is located under the metal stairs.

A pit with poison and the Mold-1 boss

Your next objective is to reach a large pit with poison. Enter the cave where you found the mold and watch out for exploding mushrooms and enemies in the narrow corridor that can cause significant damage to your health points.

At the end of the cave, you will face Mold-1, a powerful boss responsible for all the mold in the office. The boss attacks with tentacles, poisonous organisms, and exploding mushrooms. Constant movement, levitation, and quick dodges are key to victory. Use telekinesis to throw items at the boss\’ \”flower\” to defeat it.

After the battle, return to Underhill to finish the quest and receive four skill points. For a more detailed strategy on defeating Mold-1, check out the Bosses chapter.
