Assassins Creed Valhalla: Honor Bound Quest Walkthrough

This guide provides a walkthrough for the Honor Bound quest in Assassin\’s Creed Valhalla.

The mission takes place in Norway in 872 CE, where Eivor must rescue his companions from Kjotve, the killer of Varin and Rosta. The quest provides an opportunity to learn the basics of climbing, fighting, and Viking boat navigation.

Completing the quest rewards 5,100 XP.

Find and Rescue Your Crew

After a cutscene with Kjotve the Cruel, Eivor sets out to rescue his crew from Kjotve\’s people.

While heading to the main mission marker, search huts for additional items and silver. Smaller baskets and crates can be smashed with weapons. Pick fruit from the bushes near tents to regenerate health. Excess food is stored in additional rations.

Synchronize with the first viewpoint to reveal additional points on the map for artifacts, puzzles, and treasures. It is optional to visit these points.

Practice fighting Kjotve\’s people, hiding in the bushes, and attacking when the opponent\’s back is turned.

Eliminate two warriors in a small camp on the right with a bow. Enter the Avaldness camp through the side gate to avoid alerting the enemy. Slip through the gap in the wooden palisade to reach the building where Eivor\’s allies are held.

Climb to the roof for a safe entrance. Wait for the patrolling warrior to turn his back before proceeding.

You can take advantage of this moment by climbing up the scaffolding and sneaking into the passageway at the top of the building to gain entry. Then jump down inside.

When using Odin\’s Sight, you will locate the first main opponent on the ground floor. You must first reach him. Jump off the beam and continue down the right corridor. After jumping to the lowest level of the hut, you will see a short cutscene, followed by facing Rikiwulf, the first boss in Assassin\’s Creed Valhalla.

Rikiwulf has two sets of weapons – a two-handed axe with great reach and two one-handed hammers. Rikiwulf\’s slow swings are made with the axe. The two one-handed weapons allow him to attack much faster and deliver several hits in a series.

When Rikiwulf uses the two-handed axe, he often telegraphs his stronger attack. Note the red aura surrounding the boss right before he uses skills such as an overhead swing, an uppercut swing, or attacks from left to right. This is an indication to avoid sideways or backward. Your opponent is defenseless for a while after a missed attack, so it\’s your chance to attack him a few times.

At some point, Rikiwulf will drop the bulky two-handed weapon and start dual-wielding hammers, making him much faster.

Although Rikiwulf\’s quick attacks can be avoided, it is better to block them with the shield and parry to gain an advantage. Remember to press the block button just before you get hit.

Parrying knocks the opponent out of balance, making him vulnerable to attacks for a brief moment. You will notice Rikiwulf kneeling down, so try to attack him as much as possible.

Rikiwulf\’s twin hammers give him access to an additional special move – a front kick. You can recognize this attack by a red flash around the opponent. The blow can be avoided or blocked.

Take advantage of your opponent\’s mistakes, parry his attacks, and perform counters to defeat the first boss in Assassin\’s Creed Valhalla quickly. Defeating Rikiwulf gives you 180 XP.

After the fight with Rikiwulf, release the first prisoner from ties and free the rest of his companions from the cage. With such support, you are ready to fight the warriors of Kjotve.

Reach your longship

Once your companions are freed, you have to leave the building through the main door and face a group of opponents. It is an excellent opportunity to practice various attacks, shield blocks, and dodges. Since your opponents attack in groups, you may have to fight two warriors at once. Use the shield block to stun the enemy and eliminate them quickly.

To complete the Honor Bound quest in Assassin\’s Creed Valhalla, your primary objective is to reach the boat waiting for you in the harbor. However, it\’s worth spending some time eliminating all the opponents stationed in the camp to get additional XP points. Along the way to the ship, you can also visit nearby huts and buildings to find useful items. Once you reach the coast, you\’ll need to defeat a few more opponents, but with your companions\’ help, it shouldn\’t be a problem. Watch out for archers on the palisade. After the fight, enter the boat.

Your next goal is to sail to Fornburg, which is quite far from the island where you started. This is an excellent opportunity to test your sailing skills. In Assassin\’s Creed Valhalla, steering the Drakkar is straightforward. Remember to set sails, choose the direction, and sail in the middle of the river to prevent hitting the land you pass. You can also use the auto-pilot function by selecting the option to swim along the river and then sail to your destination. On the surface of the water, you will notice a blue mark that your crew will follow.

After reaching Fornburg, go ashore and speak to Randvi. You don\’t have to look for her long as she is standing on a platform right next to where your crew landed. The conversation with Randvi concludes the Honor Bound quest, and you will receive 5,100 XP as a reward.
